4 Badass Benefits Of Waking Up Early

Let’s be real honest.

Everyone isn’t a morning person.

But waking up early has proven positive results—including but not limited to being more optimistic, proactive, and productive on daily basis.

And I’m not lying either. Some of the most successful people in our generation are known to get up earlier than the norm:

Most recently, I’ve decided to challenge myself to start getting up earlier than usual (before 6am). As someone that works 9-5 and has a startup, at times 24 hours in a day JUST ISN’T ENOUGH bruh.

There are times when my 9-5 requires more than 8 hours a day, so if I’m not getting up early to maximize my day, I’m left with barely enough time to tackle my startup goals (or to focus on my self-care and “me time”).

I decided that I would no longer wait until the “perfect time” to focus on my goals and start new, and better habits.

By waking up early each day, here are some of the benefits that you will see:

1) You’ll create a habit of being consistent

No matter what goal you have – whether that’s a fitness goal or a business goal, from what I’ve seen, only the consistent survive and prosper. By challenging yourself to wake up before 6am for 30 days, you’ll deliberately create a routine of consistency that will bring productivity and success to all areas of your life.

2) You’ll be hella productive

Another benefit of waking up early is that it’ll give you a productivity boost. By waking up early and having more hours in the day to be badass, you’ll have more uninterrupted time to work on that side hustle, that startup, or those personal goals that you have.

3) You’ll have peace

Believe it or not, waking up early gives you a peace of mind. When you wake up early, you are not frantically rushing for work and being bombarded by family, friends, or colleagues. You are able to peacefully do what you need and want to do on your own time, and create your own routine before the world starts demanding so much of you.

4) You’ll be happier – seriously

Because waking up early give you a peace of mind, it makes you happier. Waking up early enables you to have more time to do something good, something positive, something uplifting in the morning. Whether you choose to meditate, pray, exercise, or work on your passion project – you are able to do you boo in the morning. Being able to do you, and do things that bring YOU joy, will bring forth positive energy and vibes.

So know that we know the benefits, HOW can we TRULY wake up early?

Having a slap boxing match with your alarm clock is already a battle on its own, so what can you do to ensure you are up before 6am? Besides setting 10 billion alarms, here are some quick things you can do on your way to becoming an early riser:

  1. Get some rest – Try to at least get 6 hours of sleep each night. Honestly, how can you expect to get up at 6am with a clear head if you laid down at 3am?
  2. Don’t doze off to the noise of social media – Instead of going to sleep scrolling on IG or Pinterest, turn your phone off at least 30 minutes before getting into bed and either fall asleep to a meditation app or the beautiful sounds of the pitch, black darkness in your room.
  3. Get an accountability partner – Find a friend that has the same goals as you and challenge him or her to be your accountability partner to ensure you are up as scheduled.
  4. Sleep in your bed, not the couch – I have so many friends that tend to fall asleep on their couch instead of their bed. When this happens, they end up getting up in the middle of then night (thus disrupting their sleep). This happens because eventually the couch becomes uncomfortable and they realize they need their bed to get adequate sleep. When it’s time to go to bed, lay in your bed instead of snuggling up on the couch.
  5. Stop cakin’ on the phone – Yes, we know you love bae and he/she loves you too, but at the end of the day, you have your own goals that you need to accomplish. Staying up with boo thang to the crack of dawn just won’t help. Let bae know about your new sleep schedule and instead of falling asleep on the phone with them or staying up late cakin’, hang up the phone and go to sleep. Trust, bae will live.

Ready to become the best version of yourself by waking up early? You can do it!
